The much anticipated exhibition "Latvian Exile Art" opens on May 9, 2013 in Rīga, Latvia at the Latvian National Museum of Art's (LNMM) Arsenāls Exhibition Hall (Torņa ielā 1).



Guna Mundheim, who served as both Vice-president and President of ALMA (2002 - 2009), has just completed a one-person exhibition in Philadelphia at the GrossMcCleaf Gallery in September 2011.

Ausma Matcate-Nonacs

Ausma Matcate born in Riga, Latvia, 4/20/1933. At the end of second world war, she left Latvia together with her mother and sister. From 1944-1950 lived in displaced persons camp in Germany. Arrived in the USA in 1950. Studied commercial art and design at the State University of New York, Farmingdale, LI. 1951-1953. In 1959 she graduated from Cooper Union Art School, while working as commercial artist in New York City. First solo exhibition of abstract paintings, in Aspects gallery, NYC in 1961. Because of her interest
in fiber arts, in 1973 Ausma Matcate attended Crafts Students League to learn various weaving techniques. She has exhibited abstract paintings and woven tapestries in New York, New Jersey, California and Latvia. Since 1995 lives in Ashland Oregon.
