The much anticipated exhibition "Latvian Exile Art" opens on May 9, 2013 in Rīga, Latvia at the Latvian National Museum of Art's (LNMM) Arsenāls Exhibition Hall (Torņa ielā 1).



Guna Mundheim, who served as both Vice-president and President of ALMA (2002 - 2009), has just completed a one-person exhibition in Philadelphia at the GrossMcCleaf Gallery in September 2011.

Avens Voldemars


Born in Latvia, 1924. Studied architecture at the Baltic University, Germany and Columbia University, New York and painting, drawing and composition with Will Barnett at the Art Students League, New York.

He has had solo shows in New York, Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia, Muenster, Germany
and Riga, Latvia. His works are in collections of the Latvian National Art Museum, Riga and Queens College CUNY, New York and in private collections in U.S., Canada and Latvia.

His paintings are bold, colourful and expressive, making use of simplified architectural forms, nature studies, human body images. Personal symbols have a role in his art.
He is also a latvian poet.

He lives in Queens, New York.
